This
30-minute video DVD, written and produced by Rev. Barbara Huffman,
introduces parents to the joys and responsibilities of caring for
children.
Parenting
is the hardest job you'll ever love, and the most important one. Children
do not arrive with an instruction book, so how do parents learn to
take care of themselves and their children at the same time?
In
this beginning-level video, Rev. Huffman, a long-time parent educator,
shares ideas on how parents, step-parents, grandparents, foster parents,
and other caretakers can meet the needs of the children under their
care, while also getting their own needs met. She teaches nurturing
and responsibility in an honoring and loving way, and views the parent/child
relationship as a sacred one.
The
content embodies good, positive Unity and New Thought principles but
honors families of all faiths, belief systems, and colors, by offering
practical advice on such topics as:
- The
importance of parents being physically and emotionally healthy
- Setting
examples of healthy eating, sleeping, exercise, spiritual practice,
and emotional being for their children
- Learning
to provide for children's basic needs
- Beyond
the basic needs, learning how to nurture each child under your care
These
topics are presented in several sections. At the end of each section,
the important points are summarized and an opportunity is provided
for viewers to reflect on pertinent questions.
Whether
viewed as part of a class or independently at home, this video is
hopeful and encouraging to the parent who needs to learn the basics
or review solid parenting concepts in order to improve their daily
parenting skills.
